Notes

Rosemary simple syrup: add 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water, and a few rosemary sprigs to a pot and bring to a boil. Lower heat to medium for approximately 10 minutes and mix until sugar is dissolved. Allow it to cool before using.

The key to the Rosemary Gimlet’s distinct flavor lies in the rosemary syrup, which is made by infusing rosemary sprigs with sugar and water. The process is easy and adds a fresh, fragrant touch to the drink. For the gin, choose a smooth, high-quality option, as its botanical flavors will complement the rosemary infusion. The combination of gin and lime is a classic pairing, and the addition of rosemary takes it to a new level, offering an herbaceous twist that enhances the overall drinking experience.

If you’re looking to elevate the cocktail even further, you can garnish it with a fresh sprig of rosemary. The aromatic oils from the rosemary will be released as you sip, providing an added layer of fragrance and flavor. For a more intense rosemary presence, you can even lightly muddle the rosemary before mixing it with the other ingredients. This technique will extract more of the herbal essence, making the rosemary flavor stand out even more in your drink.

For variations, consider experimenting with different types of gin. Floral gins with notes of lavender or chamomile can provide a lovely contrast to the rosemary. Additionally, you might want to adjust the sweetness level by playing with the amount of syrup depending on your personal taste preferences. Whether you prefer a drier or sweeter cocktail, the Rosemary Gimlet is versatile enough to suit your style.
