Flatbread Pizza

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cups warm water
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp granulated white sugar
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Mix the warm water, yeast, and sugar in the bowl of a stand mixer with the dough hook attachment. Let it sit for five minutes until foamy.
  2. Add the flour, salt, and olive oil and mix on medium-low speed until the dough isn’t sticking to the sides anymore. Allow the stand mixer to continue kneading the dough for another five minutes.
  3. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover. Allow it to rise for 45 minutes at room temperature.
  4. Prepare toppings and preheat oven to 475° F.
  5. Punch the dough down and divide it into two equal parts.
  6. Shape and stretch each piece of dough until it is 1/4″ thick, then transfer to baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Brush the dough with olive oil and add toppings.
  8. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the crust is browned.
  9. Remove from oven, slice, and serve.

Notes

For same-day pizza instead of flatbread, divide the dough into two equal parts before rising, then stretch it like pizza dough with a well-defined crust. Bake at 550° F for 4-6 minutes on a pre-heated pizza steel or pizza stone.
